Tummy Tuck and Body Lift in San Diego

Following a tremendous weight loss or the birth of children, many women benefit from a tummy tuck to reduce excess skin and restore the middle of the body to its original appearance. See before and after pictures of Dr. Laverson’s tummy tucks and read more about the differences between tummy tuck and body lift.

The end result of a tummy tuck should be a flattening of the bulging area of skin and fat below and around the belly button. A tummy tuck should effectively remove all or most of the excess to trim your figure. Aging, pregnancies, weight fluctuations, previous surgery, and other influences stretch and weaken the abdominal wall. By internally tightening the waist, removing fat from selected areas, trimming excess skin and stretch marks, the waist is narrowed and bulges are flattened.

Dr. Laverson applies special techniques to create a sexy belly button and attractive contour. Recovery time is long and can be painful, and scars take time to heal and fade.

Many individuals combine tummy tuck with other body contouring procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift, and/or liposuction.

Body Lift

A Body Lift, also known as a Circumferential Abdominoplasty, is similar to a face lift. The goal of a face lift is to lift the sagging skin and wrinkles of the face and hide the scar in the hair. With a body lift, you lift the sagging skin of the thighs and buttocks and hide the scar in the bikini line. The use of ultrasonic technology in a body lift additionally flattens the abdomen and smoothes the back.

Many people who have undergone gastric bypass surgery or bariatric surgery and have lost a tremendous amount of weight choose to have a body lift to restore their sagging skin to a more natural appearance.

The scar is long and encircles the entire body. It is similar to a tummy tuck scar that continues to the middle of the back, just above the buttocks. The scar is not necessarily wide. It can be totally hidden in a skimpy bikini. To be a candidate, you must hate the wrinkles and sagging skin above and below the bikini line more than you hate the scar. The scar is permanent but fades significantly over time.

This procedure often takes six hours or longer to perform and requires post-surgical hospitalization. It frequently takes two to four weeks to recover.
